In September 2023 I did a trail half marathon in Tobermory. We were bused to the starting line and I was running solo. When I was warming up I was approached by a man who asked me to take a picture for him and his friends.

I’m always happy to do this for people so of course I said yes.

But here’s the kicker… they left their phones in their car back in the parking lot so he asked if he could give me his number so I could text him the pictures.

His friends started talking about how this was like a hallmark movie and how cool a story it would be if we got together and this was how we met.

I had been working on my first romantasy book at the time and pretty new to the whole writing thing. But seeing how excited these men were about this story sparked an idea and I spent the entire race thinking about a new book.

We laughed and joked how it was too bad I was married and he was in a long term relationship. We parted ways and the guy who asked me for the photo said:

“See you at the finish line!”

After I walked away, I culd still hear them talking about it and it was one of the most wholesome interactions I've ever had with strangers. It was like I was meant to meet them and write this story.

Without them, this book wouldn't exist!

I began writing it in November 2023 and I am thrilled that a year later, I've been able to publish it!

Welcome to My Blog, The Happy Ending Library!

An author's ramblings on everything writing, publishing, reading, and book reviews! Stay tuned for updates on my own books and journey through the worlds of self and traditional publishing!

Hey there, I'm Sara Clement, an almost-author. My first book, See You at the Finish Line is coming out in November of 2024! I'm a wedding and sports photographer, mom of three, and wife to an ER doctor. I'm in my sports-mom era so you can find me at the soccer pitch, hockey rink, and track and field sidelines. You actually will be able to find me because I'll be the really loud one yelling encouragement to my kids and their teammates!

I've dreamed about being an author since I was a child and once my kids got a little older and my photography business was established I decided that it was now or never and I started writing. I haven't stopped since and I'm so glad I listened to that small part of my brain that said, your plate is overflowing but let's pile more on top.
